I love Georgia O'Keefe--she always got right to the bones of things, sometimes literally

Oh boy, where to start...and should I?
It's always harder to pick back up--so much water under the bridge.

I had somewhat of a hiatus from beadmaking around the time of the move--I passed a couple of accounts to people better able to handle them and pretty much decided I was done. It didn't work out that way of course, the lure of glass is too strong.

I've been selling more on Facebook, which is interestingly different, and much like the early days on Ebay, with some of the same wild west mentality too, it seems like.


I've been feeling like an overflowing cup, inspiration-wise, it's rather funny. Possibly my attention span has changed with age, lol.   I'm also finding myself drawn back to some of the older pieces and techniques I used to do, in part because I miss the early days of discovery and the sheer fun of it all---I found the old color mixing project from Wet Canvas and mixed a bunch of the old recipes and found some new ones while I was at it.   Pantone has featured a pale orange/tangerine that I'm fascinated with for some reason, especially with purple.  I used to hate orange, go figure! 

My goodness, it's been a long time!

We've finally moved, so we are living together again.  I didn't really feel good talking about that from a safety standpoint, but Chuck took a job in a different town. It took a while to find a place where we could have the critters too, but we did, and we're pretty well settled in.  It's a very small house compared to the last one, so we're really cramped, but we're much happier!

Where to start.....much has happened, but it doesn't seem like anything when I start to write it.. Hubby had surgery, we may have found a place to rent in the country, summer is coming early...see, it doesn't sound like anything, lol!

Canning

Found an almost empty bag of navy beans in the pantry, several years old at least, and thought it would be a good time to try my hand at canning beans again. I found a recipe that sounded good in Jackie Clay's canning book and decided to give it a whirl.

I made two batches, the first, exactly as per the recipe, until I realized there was nowhere near enough liquid and had to make another batch of sauce. They still came out very dry--I was afraid to really stuff the jars in case there was something I didn't know about expansion and tomato juice.....

The next batch that's in the canner right now looked wonderful---I mixed up a quadruple batch of sauce and then added a quart of last years tomatoes for a bit of texture. I made sure to run a knife down the sides to get out all the bubbles and get the sauce all the way down to the bottom.
I'm betting there was a mis-print in the book on the quantities, and hopefully these beans come out as wonderful as they looked going in!!
