Freaky Friday

We went to Walmart this afternoon, and it was downright weird....not "people of walmart" weird, but very strange. There were more employees than customers, and every one of them appeared to be chatting on a walkie-talkie. Every aisle we entered had at least one, and sometimes two, tidying up the shelves that didn't need it....maybe I'm getting paranoid but it sure felt odd, and I was glad to be out of there. It would not have surprised me to see a ring of robotic, blue-shirted employees closing in on us, like some bad horror movie....

If the puppy were human

who would he be?
We considered several well-known male actors, but finally settled on Jean-Claude Van Damme, after rejecting Arnie, Antonio Banderas, Johnny Depp, and a few others...
The puppy is sleek, beautiful, well-built, and not at all subtle about his wants. Although he is a little gentleman, if he were human, he would surely leave a trail of broken hearts behind him.

The other day when he was hungry he climbed up into my lap, put his paws on my chest and peered into my eyes from about a millimeter away, while being careful not to lick my face or actually touch me with his cold nose, something we haven't had to teach him. The other Chihuahua had to be taught not to lick and touch with her nose, but he has never done that, thankfully.

Art walk

As I walked hubby out to the car this morning we passed a purple fish and a blue horse, as we opened the gate there was a fair maiden, a black horse, and a red unicorn. Further along, another fish and giant blue footsteps leading up to the car....
Someone must have found the bag of chalk I recently uncovered in the hall closet!

Dinner

was curry, rice, lentils and naan for 60....it went well.

We crushed the spices for the lentils (the coriander seeds came from last years cilantro crop, yay!), and got the onion and garlic cooking, then started the curry...once that was going, I mixed the bread dough. When I rolled the bread out flat, I sprinkled the ajwan seeds in the flour on the counter, and they rolled in nicely. The bread crisped up nicely in the oven, and the curry was just right, not too hot, although I did make one batch with three tablespoons of curry paste for the adults.
A few of the teenagers refused to try it, but the younger ones appeared to like it, no small thing, considering our group is predominately Hispanic, and there are no Thai or Indian restaurants in this area.

Another week done!

20 days

until it's time to leave for the Tucson show...we still haven't decided if we all are going this year. Con thinks we should all go, of course. However, the other show that we did is cancelled this year, so that would mean all three of us at the show Chuck usually does alone. Not sure how that would work out....

I'm working on the website a little here and there, dusting, polishing, adding new things here and there. The Punkin's birthday is coming up, and I may have another sale in honor of that.

Cactus

Found a picture of some of the cactus beads I used to make....it's cold outside and cactus are very appealing right now. Think I'll see if I still remember how I did them....
There is a sunbeam on the arm of the green chair, with two chihuahuas trying to occupy the same space at the same time. They pile on top of each other and kick and shove, like little kids. Peanut does much better, since his fur is black.

It isn't breakup after all

Monday I had to go out about fourish, and as I was driving along, I felt joy welling up in me. After much analyzing, I decided it had to be that it felt so much like breakup. When I told hubby, he said yes, he felt it too.
The sun angle, the warmth, the puddles, everything spoke of that season further north when the daylight returns, and life springs to meet it. The puddles form in the day and freeze at night, and the setting sun blazes in the forming ice.
Then suddenly one day, the puddles are dried up, the ice is gone, and tiny blades of grass come pushing through the exposed earth, and spring is official.
Then comes the half crazed elation of light! til midnight, and birds singing at three am, and finally sleeping because you have to, not because you want to.

Today, it's back to January. Wind 15 to 20, gusts to 45, 2 inches of snow forecast and dogs that don't want to go outside.

But I had it for a moment.....

Peaceful

It is a beautiful day....dead calm and bright. We're supposed to get snow in a couple of days, so I'm just enjoying the sun while it's here.

The seed catalogs keep trickling in and I think I have found enough things that I would like to try to fill five acres! Snake melons, white and pink eggplants, purple peppers, never mind that I don't really like eggplant, it sure is pretty....

We're planting tepary beans this year, they're a dryland bean, and the beans themselves are beautiful, worthy of drilling and stringing as beads.

I moved the Silk Road and Abalone sets into the Encore section of the website, I have enough of the colors to make a few more sets...Don't forget the discount code in my last post, it's still good....

I just realized and laughed, the pics are at an angle so you don't see my sewing machine in the mirror!

New

Woke up to a beautiful day this morning.
Things changed a bit when I checked my Etsy shop....the stalker is back.

If you wonder where the shop went, she bought it....I spent the day sprucing up the website, a long overdue job. It really needed a good housecleaning, so the day was actually quite productive and I'm happy with what I got done.
